Help and Instructions for the DMSP/SSJ Particle Spectrogram Plotting Tool

The key interface to this tool is a form which you fill out to request data.

This form contains entries for the start time, the plot length, and the satellite whose data you wish to plot.

Below the form is a plot showing which satellites have data availabile for the currently shown date within the form.

Known Issues:

Some changes you make to the data selection form (shown above) may not get noticed until after you plot the data once using those options.

When you click on the "Update Availability" button, or also any of the data retrieval buttons (such as "Get SSJ Data" or the "SSIES Description/Download" button) any changes that you had made to checkboxes and radio buttons since the last plot will not be used. The only time this would have any potentially negative effect is with regard to the data filters. For example, if you created a plot having no data filters, then checked either of the data filtering boxes ("radiation noise filter" or "include salt & pepper filter"), and then clicked a data download button (such as "Get SSJ Data"), the data you download would NOT have the filters applied. You must replot the data first with the new filter selection, and then the download option will also have the same filters applied.
